The following items were discussed and/or action was taken at the village of Norridge Board of Trustees on Jan. 14.
Speed radar sign now permanent fixture on Cullom Avenue
A speed radar sign purchased by the village in September was installed on Cullom Avenue last week.
The sign, which was purchased from Franklin Park-based H&H Electric for about $8,000, replaced the portable speed trailer that had been placed on the 7200 block of Cullom Avenue, a block east of Harlem Avenue.
The portable radar machine will be moved near the Norridge School District 80 campus, where residents have complained about drivers blowing through stop signs and speeding near the two schools.
Norridge officials said they hope the presence of the speed radar will deter drivers from speeding.
Motor fuel tax funds to be used for road repairs
Norridge Trustees approved the use of Motor Fuel Tax Funds for a road repair project set to begin on Pittsburgh Avenue later this year.
The repairs will include curb replacement and road resurfacing along Pittsburgh Avenue from Argyle Street to Foster Avenue, according to Brian Gaseor, building commissioner for Norridge.
Norridge contracted Edwin Hancock Engineering Company of Westchester to design the improvements, and a construction company will be selected through the bidding process in the spring.
Handicapped parking sign removed
A handicapped parking sign was removed from the front of a home on Orange Avenue. The residents of the home moved out, so the sign was no longer needed, according to Gaseor.
Police software purchased for $20,000
The Village Board approved the purchase of a police software system used for dispatching and records keeping.
Next Village Board meeting scheduled
