GLENDALE HEIGHTS — The Notre Dame boys bowling team qualified for the state tournament for the second season in a row and the fourth time in program history on Saturday.
The Dons had 6,119 pinfalls to take third place at the Immaculate Conception Sectional. Oak Lawn finished first with 6,216, and Taft followed in second with 6,167. The top six teams at the sectional advanced to next weekend’s state tournament at St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon.
Junior Tom Ochal paced Notre Dame with 1,386 pins. Junior Charlie Allen (1,253), junior Paolo Fridman (1,211) and junior Matt Voss (987) also were major contributors.
Glenbrook North finished fifth at the 12-team sectional with 5,960 pinfalls. It was the second time in history the Spartans qualified for the state tournament. They were led by junior Nick Arcangeletti (1,299), junior Patrick Mulhern (1,255), senior Calvin Oh (1,191) and senior Jonah Fialkow (1,158).
The two-day state tournament starts Friday.
